PROJECT OVERVIEW
This asset MultiPlate MP200 stockpile conveyor tunnel (with escape tunnel and bulk head) is located at Wickwar Quarry, Asphalt & Concrete Plant, in Gloucestershire. The customer approached asset looking to invest in a new, safer stockpile conveyor system for a 10m stockpile, which is a specialised underground structure located beneath bulk material piles that provides a safe, efficient way to reclaim and transport materials using gravity feeds.
Our asset MultiPlate corrugated steel solution was chosen due to our tried and testing history in supplying corrugated steel for similar conveyor projects. The final stockpile tunnel has a diameter of 3.53m, and a length of 22.8m (escape tunnel length: 20m).
PROBLEM SOLVED
The asset MultiPlate MP200 Round Pipe improves capacity and safety of the plant. The structure provides a safe, covered environment for feeders and conveyors, protecting them from environmental elements and reducing operational hazards. The bolted structure also provides the strength required to withstand forces applied via the bulk material pile, thus protecting the conveyor system underneath.
ESG
Due to the lightweight steel solution, we were able to significantly reduce the carbon required for an installation of this size and scale. Site disruptions were also kept to a minimum, due to the rapid, in-situ installation of our modular asset MultiPlate system.
