WOKINGHAM, ENGLAND

PROJECT OVERVIEW

asset International Structures Ltd were able to deliver a significant programme improvement on the Arborfield Cross Relief Road project, by engaging early with the client to understand the site constraints and construction sequencing.

The chosen solution was an E66T/0 asset BEBO green bridge with bevel ends (Span: 20.1m Length: 33m Rise: 5.8m). Bevels were brought to site earlier, and temporary propping was fitted adjacent to the road. When lifted into position, this avoids working at height and also accelerated the installation program.

PROBLEM SOLVED

A typical bevel ended structure installation would see the main barrel of the arch built first, followed by the smaller bevel units. By utilising the generous lay down area available at site, we delivered the asset BEBO bevel units first to the area adjacent to the structure. This allowed temporary works to be fitted to the units on the ground. As a result, the 33m structure was installed in less than 3 days, and harmoniously incorporates the movement of people, wildlife and vehicles.

ESG

This green structure is the perfect example of providing wildlife connectivity across a busy highway. Our aim is to always respect the surrounding landscape, and we design our asset BEBO structures to fit the existing terrain. This green bridge also provides a social benefit by enabling walkers and cyclists to use the footpath above the busy road below.

asset BEBO Green Bridges supply key ESG benefits, including reducing wildlife collisions, improving safety, as well as addressing the chronic ecological problem of habitat fragmentation.
